Can’t upload scribes to YouTube (old version)

Last updated: 25 September 2017

This article will assist you with any problems you may run into during the YouTube upload process.

Step 1. Before attempting to upload your scribe to YouTube, ensure that you have a verified YouTube account, else you will not be able to complete this process. Please set up your channel profile on your YouTube account following the instructions below:

1. Log into your YouTube account

2. Select ‘My channel’

3. Complete the profile set up

You may need to verify your account under channel status. Your channel will then be ready for uploads from VideoScribe.

Please be aware that if you are using VideoScribe version 2.2.5 or earlier and have two-step verification enabled on your Google account, you won't be able to upload directly to YouTube. You will need to upgrade to the latest version (PC or MAC) if you want to use two-step verification.

Step 2. If you are still having difficulties, you may want to save your scribe on your computer and try manually uploading it to YouTube.

Please note – it's better to use .AVI files rather than .MOV when uploading to YouTube.

Step 3. If you have already verified your account and the error message below is still displayed, then please try the suggestions below.

  • Save your work, shut down VideoScribe and restart your computer

  • Create a short test scribe with just a single library image and upload it to YouTube - This will let us know if the service is working correctly

  • Reset your router - Please try resetting your router by power cycling it (turn it off for 30 seconds). Once done please attempt to save online again

  • Try using an ethernet connection - If using wifi, try a wired connection instead

  • Try using another computer e.g. Windows - You can save your scribe to the cloud and open it from another device to try again.

  • Check your network permissions - Confirm that there is no an upload/download limit on your network. If you're in an office, you may need to speak to the network administrators

  • If you’re in an office check that the network is set up to allow uploads to YouTube - We have an Instant Answer that will assist your network admins - Download VideoScribe in my place of work or school

  • Check with your Internet  Service Provider to see if there are any issues

  • Update your Mac to the latest version of OSX - Since the release of Yosemite (OSX 10.10), there have been known connection issues with Mac PC's

If all these points have been checked and the small test scribe works, it may be down to the connection not being stable enough or an issue with the Wi-fi connection.

As mentioned before, there are known wi-fi issues since the release Yosemite (OSX 10.10.xx)  and there have been a number of updates to try and address the issue. There are a number of solutions online which may help diagnose and resolve these issues, we have tested this previously and confirmed the issue was resolved using an ethernet connection instead of wifi.
