Downloading and installing VideoScribe Legacy

Learn how to install or upgrade your version of VideoScribe Legacy on Windows or Mac

Please note: VideoScribe Legacy is the older version of our software. We continue to support it, but we recommend switching to the latest version to enjoy the newest features and best performance.

Installing VideoScribe Legacy on a Windows PC


  1. Click here to download the VideoScribe Legacy Windows installer file

    Note: By default, most browsers will save the install file to your ‘Downloads’ folder.

  2. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click on the VideoScribe64.msi file
  3. Click ‘Next’, ‘Next’ and then ‘Install’ to install the software with the default settings
  4. Once the installation is complete, click ‘Finish’ to open the software

Top tips:

  • Right-click on the VideoScribe icon in the taskbar and select ‘Pin this program to the taskbar' if you wish to make it easier to find later

Installing VideoScribe Legacy on a Mac

  1. Click here to download the VideoScribe Legacy Mac installer file

    Note: By default, most browsers will save the install file to your ‘Downloads’ folder.

  2. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click on the VideoScribe.dmg file
  3. Drag and drop the VideoScribe icon onto the Applications folder

    If you get an error when double-clicking on the .dmg file, you need to Ctrl-click on it instead and select ‘Open’ from the menu.

VideoScribe Legacy is now installed. You can click the VideoScribe icon to open the application and later you can find VideoScribe in your Applications folder in Finder. 

If you're upgrading VideoScribe Legacy from an earlier version, just replace the existing application with the latest version of the app in your Applications folder. This will not affect any of your saved projects.

Top tips:

  • Click and hold on the VideoScribe icon in the dock, when you’ve opened the application, and select ‘Options’ -> ‘Keep in dock’ to make it easier to find later.
