I'm creating a scribe wherein I list several items, and then I want to go back and reference a few of the items by highlighting or circling them.
So far I haven't found any solution that allows highlighting or drawing a circle around text, and my current solution is less than elegant--1) insert a circle graphic 2) copy and paste text to be emphasized in the center, 3) place shape and text on top of the original text.
Anyone have a tip for a more simple solution?

Hi,
If there is not a good circle in the library, use inkscape to create a circle SVG with a transparent background. there are some tutorials and videos in the instant answers section if you need more specific advice. Also you can find plenty of tutorials on youtube for drawing a simple shapes in inkscape (free at inkscape.org)
Hope that helps, Mike (videoscribe user)

Thanks, Mike! Very helpful. I'll check out inkscape--sounds like a much better solution than what I've currently got!

For blinking:
option1: make an animated gif (search for a tutorial if you need one)
option 2: alternate copies of the text or graphic with copies of a white shape that covers the text or graphic
option 3: if you are using an SVG, morph back and forth between 100% opacity and 0% opacity copies of the SVG .
