Change things around my main character

Hello... Sorry I am new to this..I've watched the tutorials but something wasn't cleat to me....I have a scribe I want to make, and the entire video evolves around one character. How do i make things go away so that new ones can come in around him?

Usually you just move to a new part of the canvas to add more images.

or you can cover an image with a white image (assuming your background is also white) and then add another image on top of it.
