Making your video file smaller (VideoScribe Legacy)

The size of a rendered video file produced from VideoScribe Legacy will vary depending on a number of factors

Please note: VideoScribe Legacy is the older version of our software. We continue to support it, but we recommend switching to the latest version to enjoy the best features and performance.

Things that will affect the size of a rendered video include

  • The number of image and text elements
  • The file size of images when imported
  • The duration of the scribe - the total animate time of all elements in the scribe
  • The presence of audio - voiceover and music track
  • The default image import quality setting when the images were imported
  • The output video format chosen when rendering
  • The output resolution chosen when rendering
  • The output frame rate chosen when rendering

There are a number of things you can do to reduce the file size of your rendered video

  • Reduce the number of image and text elements
  • Optimize your images before you import them
  • Make the length of the scribe shorter
  • Use shorter audio clips (music and voiceover)
  • Use a lower default image import quality setting when adding images
  • Choose a lower output resolution, e.g, choose 720 standard HD (1280 x 720) instead of 1080 full HD (1920 x 1080). Smaller output resolutions are 360 web/mobile (640 x 360) and 640 normal (1138 x 640).
  • Use a lower output frame rate - this reduces the number of frames per second of video and will result in a smaller file size. We'd recommend 25 fps or lower, since this is the industry standard frame rate.
