Hi after importing my image into my project, any part of the file that has a gradient just either 1. goes black or 2. vanishes all together. Any ideas?

Are you able to share the SVG with us so we can take a look?

Yes... As suggested, please attach your SVG so someone can look at it and tell you what needs to be fixed.
specify exactly what program you used to make it too, please.
Are you sure that is the problem you are seeing with that specific image? If not, please describe your problem clearly. When I played that SVG in videoscribe, I did not see the symptom described in this thread ("after importing my image into my project, any part of the file that has a gradient just either 1. goes black or 2. vanishes all together.")
Instead, the bowl drew exactly as it should based on the way the SVG was made:

Hello Mike,
the original file has also an gradient inside the bowl. But after importing it into VideoScribe the inside of the bowl just goes dark grey. Any idea?

Oh! Thank you for clarifying. I didn't notice the inside of the bowl.
I am not sure, but I believe that the problem occurred because you used the ellipse tool (instead of the pen or pencil tool) to draw the gradient for the inside of the bowl. I re-drew the same shape with the pen tool and got a better result.
Please see attached video. Here is your original bowl on the left and the new bowl on the right (for which I used the pen tool on the opening of the bowl. unrelated note: I also deleted the horizontal line that was being drawn across the opening of the bowl (it is still in the image on the left but not the one on the right):

Hello Mike and Barry,
Thanks for helping. I generate my SVG files with Adobe Illustrator and use the export options as suggested. Here I attach my file....
