Errors installing Videoscribe

  • Hello, I am a Windows user and when installing Videoscribe I receive the following two error messages, 'Called InstallFinalize when no install in progress' and 'Called RunScript when not marked in progress'.

It completes the installation but the program does not appear on my system.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks

    Jamie

  • Hi
I'm not particularly familiar with that problem but here are a few ideas:
    1) This probably goes without saying, but be sure to download the program from this sparkol/videoscribe.co website and not from any questionable links that you may have seen elsewhere online.
    2) When downloading, if you are given the option to download it or run the installer from its source location, be sure you download it to your computer first... then run the installer from your computer.
    3) If you have multiple hard drives or other storage devices, it may help to save the install file on your C drive which is presumably where the program will be installed.
    4) If you are working on a computer that belongs to a company or school or someone other than you, you may need to be logged in as an administrator to install new software

Customer support may have a more direct solution for you.
You may want to state which version of windows you are running if you continue to have problems.

  • Hi Jamie,

This would be something local to you I'm afraid and not something we could fix from our end.

Having quickly Googled the error code, it might have something to do with your system's time/date settings being incorrect?

  • Hi Mike, I appreciate the detailed response, thank you.

Suggestions one to four have been covered.

    I am on Windows 10.

  • Hi Joseph,

Thanks for getting back to me.

The date and time settings are showing as correct on the bottom right of the screen.

I will check the link out and see if it gives other clues.

  • Be sure to check the year as well as the month and day on your system.
Here is a fairly recent microsoft help response about the same problem:

  • also a youtube video (I didn't watch the whole video and I don't know the person who posted it, so as always, use your own judgement when taking advice from youtube videos):

  •  If you don't get a reply here in the public forums, be sure to raise a ticket to ask customer support about your problem.

I think that's an error related to Microsoft Visual C++. You might be able to fix it by going to microsoft's website and downloading the newest visual C++ redistributable installer file. AFter you install that, videoscribe might install properly.
